The meeting started exact on 8:30 PM on September 23^rd, 2010 & finished on 10 PM as everyone was so eager to know about NetBeans. The meeting was really very much motivating & full of energy. The strange coincident that we held the First Meeting of NetBeans at the restaurant Beans & Buddies, NetBeans -- Beans & Buddies.

Thanks a lot to Dear Tushar Joshi Sir for his kind & very useful guidance to all of us. He told us many things which we were unaware of, I have been using NetBeans but I did not know the history of NetBeans, Founder of NetBeans Sir Jaroslav “Yarda” Tulach, the Sun & NetBeans, etc. Now I & all the other who were attending the meeting knows thing about the NetBeans, and would definitely like to share all the information to the world.

We also learned about the NetBeans Certified Associate Program & NetBeans Certified Engineer Program, etc. after attending the 2 day training offered to us & after completing the different tasks assigned after completing the training. As well as we learn about ThinkingRock for GTD (Getting Things Done).

I have used Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, JCreator, etc. many more IDEs for Java Project Development but I found the NetBeans the best among the all other IDEs available in the market. The biggest advantage of using NetBeans you don’t need to install plug-ins for servers, various libraries, in other  words you don’t need to take care of anything, and simply go on writing code for what you want to develop seamlessly.

I really love NetBeans a lot. NetBeans being a Open Source Application also allows us to know & learn many things as well. I don’t think I am going to use any other IDE in future rather than NetBeans.

I would love to recommend the NetBeans as the Best IDE in the World.

Brief Introduction:

NUGNagpur is a group of people passionate about NetBeans IDE or NetBeans Platform and who are located geographically in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.  This group is the main collaboration tool for the members.  This is a focused group and the members intend to meet many a time in a month.  The objective of the group is to share personal experiences, tricks, tips and learning with each other and contributing the community as and when possible.

The NetBeans IDE:

History of NetBeans:

NetBeans basically stands for Network JavaBeans. The NetBeans started its journey long way ago in the year 1996. Initially it was a final year student project under the guidance of the faculty of the Mathematics & Physics in Prague and was named as “Xelfi” (meaning Delphi for UNIX). It was a group of 7 who started a college project initially in C++ & was aimed for UNIX but after working for a year or so they found it difficult to work in C++, then they switch to Java 1.0.2.

After finishing the project, they started selling it on the internet for approximately $20 USD as the Shareware & they got quite successful.

Jaroslav “Yarda” Tulach is one of the founders of the NetBeans. His actual name is Jaroslav Tulach, he was also one of the 7 people worked on the original college project. He is still working with Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) as an NetBeans Architect.

In the year 1997, Roman Stanek, a Czech entrepreneur founded the NetBeans with the same project.

After the successful presentation of first beta of NetBeans 2.0 at Java One in the year 1998, in the year 1999 Sun Microsystems acquire the NetBeans.

If you want to lock your CD-ROM & want to restrict anyone from burning CDs, follow steps below;

• Go to Run
• Type "regedit"
• Find or Ctrl+F
• Then Type "allocatecdrom"
• Change value from 1 to 0
• To make it default again type 0 to 1

How to set path for Java?

Dear Friends,

If you want to set the path for Java, there are three main steps to set system path for Java which are as follows;

1. To check path is set or not.
2. Temporary Path
3. Permanent Path

1. To check path is set or not :

a. Go to Start Menu 

b. Go to Run

c. Type "cmd" without quotes to open Command prompt.

d. Get to the root directory say c:/> 

e. To check whether the path is already set or not, on command prompt type "javac" without quotes & press enter/return. If the following message appears on the console screen then the path is not set. 

 
f. But if the other message having length nearly equal to half a page then path is set.

2. Temporary Path :

To set the temporary path follow the steps given below;

a. Open Command Prompt.

b. If path is not set &  want to set it temporarily, assume the Java 1.6.0 is installed on your system, type following command on console screen :

And finally the path is set temporarily.

Note : This will work only for the current window, won't work if you open another window.

3. Permanent Path :

To set the path permanently follow the steps given below;

a. Right Click on "My Computer Icon".

b. Go to "Properties".

c. Go to "Advanced" tab.

d. Click on "Environment Variables".

e. Go to "System Variables".

f. Find "Path" variable, select it & click "Edit".

g. Small window will appear. Go to end by simply pressing "End" button & type following path with semicolon ( ; ) as prefix but without quotes;

    ";C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0\bin"

h. Press "OK", again "OK", again "OK".

And finally the path is set permanently.

i. To check whether the path is set or not simply refer details given above in the section 1.
